Sustainable Fishing
Gold Seas Tuna Chunks recognizes the need to create a balance between business growth and social responsibility,
which is why we only choose and work with catchers who employ sustainable and responsible fishing methods.
They avoid illegal fishing and the use of fish-aggregating devices or FADs; their fishing operations do not lead to over-fishing, or to the depletion of exploited marine populations such as juvenile tuna, dolphins, and sharks. With FAD-free fishing, every catch is predominantly composed of mature tuna, which then ensures that the young tuna and other non-targeted fish species will remain in the sea. They also comply with local, national, and international regulations on fisheries management, and support and promote fishing practices that are in accordance with standards and policies such as the Dolphin Safe Program of Earth Island Institute.
Through and with our partners, we aim to contribute positively to environmental conservation as well as to long-term social and economic development.
